With his small portable workbench, sculptor François Pompon (1855-1933) loved to stroll through the Jardin des Plantes in Paris. There, he could observe the animals and model small sketches. Back in his studio, he sculpted bears, panthers, but also dogs, chickens, and rabbits, simplifying the forms to capture the very essence of each animal. Thus, before the eyes of visitors to the Musée d'Orsay, where many of these sculptures are housed, the animals come to life!
His sculptures have been reinterpreted by artist Gérard Lo Monaco, and in collaboration with the RMN and the Musée d'Orsay, Vilac pays tribute to Pompon, this brilliant artist, by creating this magnificent range of wooden toys.
