Petitcollin since 1860

It was in Étain, in the Meuse region, that Petitcollin was founded in 1860. Nicolas Petitcollin, the founder, was originally a maker of horn combs. In 1901, he turned his attention to producing beauty accessories in celluloid.

The year 1912 marked the birth of the Petit Colin baby doll, the brand’s flagship product, which revolutionized the doll market by offering a washable doll at an affordable price, unlike the traditional dolls of the time. Petitcollin quickly became a very successful and innovative company, and one of the most prestigious French doll manufacturers up until the 1950s.

In 1961, Petitcollin mastered a new process: rotomolding, which made it possible to produce hollow vinyl parts, particularly doll heads and limbs.

From 1970 onwards, Petitcollin experienced many difficulties until it was acquired in 1995 by Vilac, the Jura-based wooden toy manufacturer.

In 2007, Petitcollin received the Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (Living Heritage Company) label, an official French government distinction awarded to companies recognized for their artisanal and industrial excellence.

In 2009, Petitcollin launched the Ecolo Doll® range, producing dolls through a sustainable approach: clothing made of 100% organic cotton grown without pesticides, with local European manufacturing.

The year 2015 marked the beginning of a wonderful partnership with Sylvia Natterer, the renowned doll designer, who still collaborates today on the creation of Petitcollin collections.
Today, Petitcollin offers around a hundred dolls with refined outfits and high-end finishes.

Petitcollin wishes to keep inspiring both children and adults! To dream and play, nurturing the imaginary worlds of little ones — our greatest treasure. For generations, Petitcollin has created dolls and baby dolls, passing down dreams from one generation to the next. That is the magic of Petitcollin!
